Well, that worked.

Installed a 1gig stick of Patriot 2-2-2-5 ram and the timings went
from 2.5-3-3-7 to 2-3-3-6 which actually was running the CL2.5 Hynix
ram that came with the laptop a little tight.

Pulled the stock Toshiba Hynix ram and it booted to the Patriot SPD
settings of 2-2-2-5.  Divider went to 5:4 so life is good!
My son is going to sell the 512 Hynix on Ebay and I'll use the money
to subsidize another 1gig Patriot stick.

Laptop is nice and responsive now.  Maybe next a cam, headers and some
nitrous for it.....
