Ok, so let me get this straight. While one's country is engaged in an
action that is immoral, ignoble, and criminal, this is the ranking of
things one can do from most to least patriotic:
1. enlist
2. go to Canada
3. serve in the National Guard

Enough knowledge not to yearn for their return.

That must be why everyone was calling Gephardt a draft dodger when he
was in the primaries. Oops.
The race for the White House should be about leadership, and leadership
requires that one help heal the wounds of Vietnam, not reopen them; that
one help identify the positive things that we learned about ourselves
and about our nation, not play to the divisions and differences of that
crucible of our generation. Amen.
