Not universally true, but also not at all related to my initial
question which wasn't about whether age discrimination occurs, but
whether it's legal.
As others have pointed out, Westerners are not only employed as eikaiwa
teachers. And the issue of age discrimination extends to native
Japanese as well; job ads for Japanese also can have age restrictions.

Surely you're not suggesting that it's illogically discriminatory for
an English conversation school to prefer to hire native English
speakers.
