Well, the amount of trust I'm willing to give can be measured by the amount 
of power I'm willing to surrender.  I'm willing to trust the government, to 
a point.  Likewise, I'm willing to trust convicted criminals, to a point.  I 
have the right to bear arms too.  It isn't as if the criminal were let loose 
on a completely vulnerable populace.  The criminal has the right to try to 
rob me, Likewise, I have the right to shoot him in the face if he tries.

Well, I'm surrounded by millions of criminals whom I allow to live 
anonymously around me, and I'm not dead, I haven't been raped, I haven't 
been robbed....

Why would I allow them to do so, because this policy works.
