Nope. Lufthansa Japan 0120 051844 sells discounted tickets - I'm happy to be 
corrected if they suddenly stopped doing so in the last 12 months though.

I agree that their prices aren't very customer-friendly during peak season. 
The cheapest I ever got from them to the UK was 90000 yen during October 
2002.  But that was for their cheapest upgradeable economy class ticket - 
which was NOT the cheapest seat available.  BIM that this is from Nagoya.

The informed opinion is that Malaysia is the cheapest bet from this neck of 
the woods.  Five-hour outward stop over and nine hours inward on a return 
flight to London HR - did it, got the t-shirt, won't be doing it again.
