upgrading XP Home to XP Pro on Toshiba Satellite laptop
I want to upgrade my Satellite laptop's OS from XP Home (the default
version that came with the machine) to XP Pro.
Can I just run standard upgrade software, or do I need a
machine-specific upgrade (so that I don't overwrite the native drivers
or Toshiba-specific software)?
If it's the former (i.e. standard upgrade), will the upgrade retain the
current drivers and software on my current setup, or will I need to
source them again?
Also I've read online that the SmartMedia Host Controller can prevent
smooth installation
(http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/ALL/-TSB000754.htm)
Is this a known issue? Is there anything else I need to watch out for?
Thanks in advance,
Peter
