I have a problem with companies using their own battery types. I have seen
a lot of excellent cameras, like the Sony F828, but I refuse to get caught
up with this battery thing. I had a Sony before I got this Fuji and the
Fuji won out over the F717 because of the battery.

Before I retired, I dealt with digital electronics, some of my equipment
problems was with batteries and replacing them. It was so nice in an
emergency to run down to the corner store and buy set of batteries. "AND"
how about costs.

The only difference between their batteries, in reference to current
handling capacity, and off the shelf models was with size and shape. Most
digital components use a small amount of current so having their own
batteries in today's digital market just seems to be for monetary reasons.
