The American Catholic Church ? That sounds to be a weird sect.

All Americans probably. Now you are all reborn, refreshed, virgin again,
memory of the past has been erased, ready for 4 years... So that new Prez of
yours, what's his name ?

In Roman era, there were things like that for sure. And martyrs in arenas
with lions.
At some times, I was reading a lots of litterature (=fiction) about old-time
Catholic stories. Stories about the Inquisition organising theatral events
for converting people, making them scream "I'm dead..." to *reborn* as
Christians with a new identity, then they'd go back home and organized
equally weird secret Jewish/Indian/Voodoo rituals in caves which would cause
them other trials and weird Catho-rituals. Or the Sisters that were made to
sleep one night in a coffin to symbolise their death, before taking the
gown.
Do you also go to the exorcist sometimes ? Do you burn witches in your
neighbourhood ?
