I might have an opportunity to go to Japan as a contractor. Does anyone know how visas work for contractors in Japan? Right now what is being discussed is 3 weeks in Japan then 1 week back in the US. I can get a visa through my wife - is that sort of visa a pretty quick turnaround?

A lot of things are up in the air, and the odds are very high it'll fall through; and then there's the whole "do I want to risk burning a bridge in my current company" thing, especially since I just changed jobs. But the chance to get back to Japan in a management role is too much to resist.
