I've just checked the iolo website, & they claim that only certain of
their applications are compatible with Vista as of early 2007. These
include System Mechanic 7, but not System Mechanic 8.

It might be worth reverting to the earlier version, unless Version 8
does something that you absolutely *must* have.

The Toshiba Hardware setup on this model is on the start menu, not in
the control panel, apparently. My apologies.

On a default installation, from the desktop, click "Start", "All
Programs", "Toshiba", "Utilities", "Hardware Setup"

The tab you want is the one labelled "LAN". Under some circumstances,
the Toshiba Hardware setup program will override the Marvell & Realtek
programs.

The Network cable plugs in to the connector on the left hand side of the
case, behind the USB sockets, between those & the round S-VHS connector.

If you unplug this, then hibernate & it cures the problem, then we have
a solution. If not, then it's something else waking the machine up.
ConfigFree has been known to set wireless networking to do such things.
