I set up the company in 1999 after 5 consecutive years here, but
didn't switch to the toushikeiei visa until 2002. I did so on the
advice of the Immigration Bureau, as I no longer had a labor contract.
So the procedure involved was one of changing visa status from
jinbunchishikikokusaigyoumu. I would assume there would be a minimum
capital requirement, but don't know what that would be, or what type
of incorporation would be required. My company is a kabushikigaisha.
