I would politely point out to them that such items have a 6 year
"life" for landlords. That even if they decided to try to hit you for
the full cost of repairing the floor (I would also point out that it's
not your fault that thier apartment leaked) it should only be XXXXX *
1/3.
Probably won't do you any good but we're planning on trying to use
that to our advantage when our landlord hits us up for major
refurbishing costs (kitty liked the wallpaper so much she decided to
scratch through it - same with the old carpet upstairs) to our place
when we move out in 2-3 more years.
