Sorry for the delayed response, but busy with the real life and all that
stuff... I confess that looking in the newsgroups seems to me to be very
much an act of feeble desperation these days.

With regards to that link it is closer, insofar as it actually is a Palm OS
application that will run on the Clie, but is not a development tool, nor
even close. According to the Sony support people (though I admit that I find
it rather difficult to understand them after they go all polite), when Sony
stopped selling Palm OS devices, they terminated the license to distribute
any development tools. They know what I want, they know that there is no
profit nor loss in it for them, but they will not be of assistance. Of
course existing Palm applications, including some that have been developed
for the Clie, still exist at many sources, but that is not helpful for my
situation. An alternative Japanese PDA would be worth considering, but I've
pretty much given up any aspiration apart from retaining portable access to
the data.

It seems likely that some of the people who did development on the Clie may
still have the relevant files. It gets iffier for such an old device as my
T600C, however. Still, the current problem is that those people are somewhat
hard to find these years...
