Re: Dumb Question I expect but could someone help
Honestly, if you don't know the difference why bother - just start
experimenting with a cheap and simple camera that suits your needs.
Once you have experienced digital photography for a year or so you will
be able to make a much better choice of camera.
Here's a few answers:
* the Fuji and Canon cameras you mention are both digital cameras - i.e.
both don't use film but flash cards (there are several types of flash
cards: Compact Flash, Secure Digital (both widespread and relatively
cheap), xD (Fuji and Olympus), MemoryStick (Sony), etc.)
* digital cameras usually come with a USB-cable you can use to transfer
the images to the PC - no scanner needed
* benefits of (D-)SLR cameras are a.o.: higher sensitivity with less
noise, expandability such as interchangeable lenses, etc. - in general
these cameras are well suited for (semi) professional photography.
