A few years back (94?) I got left off the hook around Xmas time. I was
driving a date towards a lover's lane kinda spot when we were waved over
for a random check - from memory the only random breath test I've had in
this country. Licence please...
I had my Austrian licence in my wallet, but couldn't find the
international permit in my bag. Went through the bag thoroughly handing
laptop, phone, dictionaries etc one by one to my date. Terribly sorry
officer I think I've left it in the office... He let me off. And forgot
to ask me whether or not we had indulged in a lovely bottle of red over
dinner. I have never been let off anything since though. 1 parking fine,
1 speeding fine.

If things start getting boring around here should I offer him the
opportunity to babysit goldfish? store fermenting bottled beer? Instead
of dead goldfish and the odd explosion, gawd knows what Elbow could turn
it into.
