Are Americans paid a comparable salary?

In my most recent position I had hoped to survive Temp-dom long enough 
to become a regular employee, then survive long enough to go to their 
India call center. That was a regular posting for a lot of their top 
employees. The down side is that you work US hours, which I've heard can 
be a bit rough (but might allow plenty of daylight to actually see the 
city). Alas, 'twas not to be.
