I didn't see Murgi's original post. In the Netherlands Antilles, we
still use guilders.

Certainly, but they tend to lose a bit on the exchange rate if they use
them in shops. The dollar is fixed to the guilder, so everyone exchanges
them pretty fairly. The Euro floats. It was around 1.9 guilders to a
Euro when I moved here, and it's about 2.4 now. Shops just set the
exchange at 2.25 or so, and let the float make them money. A smart
European tourist exchanges the Euros for guilders at the bank, and
spends guilders while he's here. When our country dissolves next
December, we'll probably switch to the Euro when we become a part of the
Netherlands.
