Only well I know anything about is in western NSW so I'm no expert, but
my understanding is that it would depend on whether the well was being
supplied by aquifer or from local seepage. If the later, then
agrichemicals might have left traces, if the former, then anything is
possible. Doesn't the local government have a certification process for
this? Usually it is connected with the 保健所  (at least that is the
case here in urban Aichi).
