Pretty much agree, remove the subsidies and deep water whaling will
struggle. Its unlikely that they could ever be farmed (in the way tuna
etc are), and I think it is unlikely that the price of alternative meat
will ever rise high enough for whale to be an economical substitute. As
for fine grade oils and other by-products, wouldn't products processed
from whales remain unlikely to replace or be able to compete with
synthetics and alternative sources?
