In central Fukuoka (which is where I'm looking), the snacks are 2
blocks away from the shotengai. I don't know well any other big
Japanese city but I had always assumed this is "normal life" in Japan.

Hmm, except for the "cheap" one (90k rent), all the others were quite
expensive (130k up) regardless of the place. And all of them seemed
quite "fit for women", whatever that is.
Some Japanese say that buildings without security lock are "dangerous".
I cannot afford to be so picky, especially considering that the crime
level is almost nil.
