Last time I have checked, you had to buy ad spaces for a whole train line
(or nothing at all), the train companies didn't want to differenciate the
ads train by train, so even less car by car.

Ah yeah ? That's seasonal and you came just before GW. Most of the time, I
see of anything, including boob magazines and magic shampoo for guys that
lose their hair. Also, on JR, in the girls' car, I always see men (or very
masculine looking women wearing salaryman costumes ).
In the first week of the new system , I have asked to some of them if they
had not made a mistake, but they all said that they boarded that car in
order to travel in company of women and avoid chikans.
These days, many people avoid the first car, and even the 3 first cars. I
think JR should make a discount for those that use these so- dangerous cars.
