I actually like this theory. Whether or not it's the true motive, it
certainly will be something advertisers jump on, though a lot of the
ads on JR West (at least the main line to/from Himeji) seem to be
family or female oriented (lots of travel ads). As an aside, it was
train advertising that sparked my interest in researching advertising
in graduate school.
