Thanks for that. I can read the the first because it has lots of
katakana and you explained the kanji in the second. Good to see
the authors were careful, it's always good when dictionary
authors are careful.
Could you help me out with 2 things please?
Firstly could you translate this for me, it's got too much kanji
and it looks a bit daunting.
しゅうきょう ―けう 1 【宗教】
(1)神仏などを信じて安らぎを得ようとする心のはたらき。また、神仏の
教え。
(2) 〔religion〕経験的・合理的に理解し制御することのできないよう
な現象や存在に対し、積極的な意味と価値を与えようとする信念・行
動・制度の体系。アニミズム・トーテミズム・シャーマニズムから、ユ
ダヤ教・バラモン教・神道などの民族宗教、さらにキリスト教・仏教・

Secondly, would you mind giving the definition of 宗教 from the
Koujien and Daijiten please?
