That's probably true. Appearance is part of it, but personality is a factor
as well. The natural expectation is that as you get older you'll mature
and start acting more mature. The way a person acts could make them seem
older or younger than they actually are.

Well, I don't really have a big problem with it because it's always (so far)
been exaggerated violence for comedic effect and it is often funny. A bit
overused, I think I'd agree. But he gets beat up for no good reason half
the time. Even if all that exaggeration is just covering say a slap on the
face, I still feel kind of sorry for him getting smacked around so much
when many times he doesn't deserve it.

Huh. That's weird. Since I'll probably get the manga at some point, I'll
see that for myself eventually.

:) Well, I do like my first viewing to be generally unspoiled so that all
the surprises and such that should be there, are. Usually I've heard at
least a bit about the series first, like with Love Hina I knew there was
the background of Keitaro's promise and was vaguely familiar with the girls
in the show (so I recognized Shinobu in episode 1 even though she wasn't
really introduced until episode 2). But I don't want to know major plot
points and things like that and so I try to avoid reading anything too
detailed before I've seen the show.
