Your son is not (now) a politician whom some might expect to show sincere remorse
or make a sincere apology. Nor is he hindering others who may be looking for or
trying to spread greater knowledge or understanding.

However, some background could help if for example, he were involved in some
youth international exchange program, or if he were puzzled by certain events or
publicized negative opinions of Japanese.
