So far I've become quite dissapointed with most modern movies which either base themselves on books or which are re-making a cartoon (Take the Marvel stuff, Inspector Gadget, He-Man, etc.). Especially in the modern era it seems as if movie makers rely too heavily on special effects and the bigger the special effects the better the movie. Now, when looking at NGE then I really have to wonder if this is going in the right direction. IMO its going into a direction which is bound to make the most money, which isn't always the best when it comes to credibility and storyline. Instead it needs to adress a broader audience and as such I'm sure compromises will have to be made. Some could be good I suppose (say, for example, a "relationship" between Shinji & Rei (based on "Girlfriend of Steel" among other things)) however others could be plain out horrid (I have no idea what to expect from an EVA - Angel encounter). Recently I looked at Death/Rebirth & End of Evangelion again and I have to say that my impression of D/R went up while EoE went a little down. In some cases I think EoE tries to explain too much, and sometimes even simply leaving some gaps here and there. Normally that isn't much of a problem, but it becomes silly if you do this in a product which claims to present all the answers. So I dunno... I guess if Gainax has a big piece in this it could be nice but if this is a sole ADV endoursement then I really fear for the worst and think that chances are high it'll be very dissapointing (I still have the Platinum Collection extras in the back of my mind). I can see it now... Grandma Asuka (Tiffany Grant) will make a live appearance in the movie, ofcourse using her normal voice. Will sound really nice when its done; presenting the fans a movie featuring grandma Asuka with the voice of teenage Asuka. -- Groetjes, Peter .\\ PGP/GPG key: http://www.catslair.org/pubkey.asc
