I'm well aware that the topic could be disturbing but I really begin to
think that the whole hype about the series is nothing more (or less)
than one major attempt to start some "ADV hype". Sure, I'm aware that
they are releasing a couple of series for the second time (Evangelion,
Robotech, etc.) but up untill now I considered this to be a mere
coincedence. Now I'm beginning to wonder... Sure; after release 5 but
alas.

situation: A few beers, a headphone after being told by $SO to "cut the
noise" and dumping in DVD 2, currently looking at "She said: Don't
make others suffer...".. Oh, cut the crap: "The value of a miracle
is...". After seeing 4 DVD's I already determined that its "fishy" (IMO
ofcourse) that only a selective ADV crowd seems to come back every time
on the DVD's (meaning: Tiffany Grant (Asuka) for 3 times, Matt
Greenfield going for the same numbers, etc.) but now I think there is
much more to it than we're told...

We already know that they are supposed to bring a "remastered" DVD. New
sound and picture. I have to agree that the picture looks crisp in some
moments, in others I can't help wonder if it just isn't brighter and has
more contrast.

But the sound... Remastered ?

At this moment I have re-run 5 times (yes, I'm a nerd, blow me) the
scene where Aoba tells Misato "Sorry, this is our job as well" in the
episode mentioned above. But whats getting under my skin is that Hyuga
sounds different than Aoba on the Platinum series while both are suppose
to be in the same room. Sure; you hear the so called "environment" can
sound in both voices but Hyuga sounds quite different.

My theory at this time ? Yes, the sound has been remastered but they
generously used a selective amount of voice actors to make the English
dubs sound the same. And ofcourse they give no damn what so ever about
the cartoon itself. This (perhaps arrogant) conclusion is drawn from
whats on the past DVD releases as extra bonus material. Its all based on
ADV or it members, *NOTHING* is focussed on Evangelion itself.

Oh well... "thats life" I suppose. The Platinum collection is nice and
cheap entertainment, but if you trade your original DVD's for this one
you're a fool IMVHO.
