To be fair, hardly an "upstart", old fellow.

They built the engines that powered that Fokker flying chappie,
von Richthofen, the "Red Baron", in 1917 and by 1930 were
building Austin Seibens (under licence).

And they're still German to this day!
Haven't sold out to some foreign devils like some *nglish bounders
