There was a reason I kept coming back to Gifu, and it was for the same reasons
as above. At night I can go home to the mountainside where it's quiet enough to
hear wildlife and dark enough to see the comet that went by last winter from my
porch. Then during the day, if I can't find what I want or need somewhere in
Gifu, I can be in Sakae in an hour's time. If I'm *really* desperate for
American-made perishables (which is not very often, but I'm a human being) I can
be at the Costco in Amagasaki in 2 1/2 hours, and load up the car.
I have everything I need right here. Never thought of living anywhere else.
