Yes, I have heard that as one reaches the age of decrepitude
short-term memory becomes less reliable. Memory of things from
long-ago tend to remain more clear, or so I have heard. That doesn't
explain why you were unable to recall for Brett that Bush41 was a USN
pilot in WWII, though.
