The other day I placed an order for a couple of games (Sub Command and
IL-2 Sturmovik) through www.chipsbits.com, via a link from
www.subsim.com. The subsim site gets a cut from the sale, and since
they have been a useful site for me I don't mind supporting them in
that way. I ordered some other games in the same way a little over a
year ago, with no problems.

This time, though, The day after placing my order I received an e-mail
telling me that in order for them to process my order I have to send
them photocopies of the front and back of my credit card, together
with a letter stating that I authorize this and all future purchases
from them. 

The only other time I have encountered this is when I attempted to get
a refund from the piece of shit web hosting service I use(d). The only
wanted the standard info (card name, number, expiration, billing
address) when they took my money....yet they wanted copies of the
front and back of the card and copies of the front and back of my
driver's license in order to *refund* my money. I learned that the
operator of that business is now doing time in a federal penitentiary
for credit card fraud facilitated by acquiring such things. Naturally,
this made me leery as hell and I cancelled the order for the games and
informed them I would be contacting the FBI and the attorney-general
in the state where the business is located. 

What I need now is a recommendation for a reputable site. Does anyone
have one?
