I think it had to do with the fact that we were trying to hit hanami, and
we had to make reservations months early. The Japanese, of course, can
monitor the progression of the season, so their reservations would be
made later, and would be made to hit the peak (or close to it)

Gotta admit, Yoshino would have been spectacular if we'd hit it right.
