He doesn't in such a way that he would appear to be paying honour and 
respect to them. If ever it looked that way, he would simply stay away.

There are such voices in every country, but in most countries they are 
regarded as a lunatic fringe and everybody else just waits for the shits 
to die of old age. The difference in Japan is that the loonies are 
closely associated with the mainstream of the governing party and 
receive public endorsements from figures as prominent as the prime 
minister, and that they have influence in education and the media, so 
they can pass their vile ideas down to new generations.

Good on the Chinese for kicking up a stink about it, sez I, whatever 
their own vulgar motivations.
