You will probably find that his exit, if it true, has been negotiated 
and that all next steps have been agreed to in advance.  Whether Japan 
will renege on any agreed subsequent move as soon as they're pretty sure 
no one important is watching (SOP for Tokyo) remains to be proven.

Until then, we can all just sit around and expect the usual worst case 
and nod knowingly when it occurs.
