If he's a member of LinkedIn, he can post a request on the Japan Legal
Forum:

http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=73277&trk=NUS_DIG_GENR-ucg_hd&goback=.hom

(contact S. McIntyre "Mak" Allen from Osaka if he needs an invite to the
group in order to post). There are about 3,000 members -- bengoshi and
gaiben both -- in nearly every city over 500,000 people. And a few
legal services suppliers, like me.

Then sending him to a professional group and letting them decide is
probably best.
