Rather than having the Mrs. download a torrent, have you thought about checking out some of the streaming sites?  There are a number of them in China of all places that seem to capture them and put their own watermark on them but they stream fairly well.  Occasionally you will get a few that state can only be viewed in mainland China but fairly good overall.  Good for variety programmes as well.

It has sort of made the transition a bit easier.
