Friends in Tokyo
Hello All:
First off let me say thank you to all the many kind people on this
newsgroup, who answered a lot of questions for me regarding my recent
move to Tokyo. It really saved me a lot of time and energy, having a
little foreknowledge of what life in Tokyo would be like.
That said, I have another request for information from the group. I
understand that friendships don't just pop up overnight, and that the
best ones develop over a long time; but I am interested in meeting
people, both Japanese and non-Japanese, and just generally getting the
ball rolling as far as relationships go. I speak a little Japanese,
and would be willing to teach English informally if it will help me
meet people. So my question is: what tips do people have for meeting
people (both Japanese and non-Japanese) in Tokyo?
As an aid to answering, I am interested in singles groups, student
groups, martial arts, computers, Japanese history, etc. I would
appreciate any little bits of information people have gathered in the
course of their experience, such as useful websites or listservs, or
gathering venues, or regular parties or pubs, etc.
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate the kind efforts to advise me.
