I'm not convinced about the design though.

In a 'standard' bow the power comes from the elastic nature* of
the bow not the string.  In any rubber band based system the
power comes from the band not the bow.  Therefore there seems 
to be little practical reason for having the two rulers joined 
together at an angle - all it does is increase the weakness of
the join (and indeed they stress the considerable importance of 
wrapping the tape 'properly').  Well I suppose the other thing it
accomplishes is stopping the band hitting the thumb of the hand
you're holding the bow with. ;-)

* Actually from compression of the 'belly' of the bow rather 
than stretching of the front of the bow IIRC.
