I visited the US for the first time maybe 20 yrs ago, they were already

Exactly. If there is a choice, in the US, I take the buffet.
That's the only way to :
1. avoid getting lectured that I'm an idiot because I don't take the
wonderfully buffet with the 30% discount coupon plus free dessert buffet
plus free cocktail buffet plus plus....
2. avoid seeing my table filled with 5 to 10 times the quantity I will eat,
and even items I will not touch.
3. avoid having to look for a rubbish bin where I can *legally* drop the
heavy doggy bag they forced me to accept
I wonder what kind of food is still edible the next day, after staying hours
on the table and then hours in your car (or under your armpit while you're
romantically walking along the beach watching the stars ?). What's the
temperature in this season ? You really eat the doggy bag food or you just
bring it back by pride, to say that you get everything you've paid for ?
