ロバート　と　ポール

その地域の最も著名な法律事務所に、仕事の募集
があった。終に、ロバートとポールの番に成った。
二人ともロースクール（大学院レベルの法律家養成
機関）を優秀な成績で卒業していた。二人とも良家
の出身であった。二人とも同様に魅力的であり、
上品な話し方をした。一人を選ぶのは上司の判断
次第であった。そこで、上司は二人を別々に離して
連れて行き尋ねます。『何故、弁護士になったのですか？』

直ちに、彼はポールを選びます。困惑したロバート
はポールを傍らに連れて行きます。

『私が、なぜ拒絶されたのか分からない。アームス
トロングさんが何故、弁護士になったかを尋ねた時
私は、法律に最大の尊敬の念を抱いております。
憲法には命も捧げましょう。私が望んでいることは
顧客には公平に接することです、と言ったんだよ。
君は一体どんなことを話したんだい？』

『私は、両手のために弁護士に成ったと言ったんだよ』とロバートは答えます。

『両手の為に？どういう意味だい？』
『そうだね、ある日よく見ると、どっちの手にも全然
お金がなかったんだよ』
