サム　クラムと　オリィ

サム　クラムとオリィは生涯を通じての友人でした。
ある日、オリィは亡くなり、天国へ行きました。数ヶ月
後に彼の長年の馴染みの友人、サム　クラムに会
いたくなりました。意気消沈して、聖ピートの所に
行き、地上に降り、サム　クラムを訪ねていいかど
うかを訊きました。聖ピートは、もしオリィがハープを
つまびいて、再び、天国の門にはいれるように始終
ハープをもっていて、さらに、真夜中に一気に、帰っ
て来ると約束すれば、願いを叶えてあげようと言い
ました。
オリィは、同意し、ハープを持って、友人のサム　クラムを訪問へと向かった。
地上に着くやいなや、驚いたことに、サム　クラムは
立派なディスコを所有していることが分かった。
彼はサムと、とても楽しい時間を過ごしたので、時間はあっというまに過ぎて行っ
た。その時、時計が１２時を打つのが聞こえた。そこで、彼は約束どおり
天国に急いで帰った。
次の朝、聖ピートは、オリィが天国の門の外で泣き
ながら座っているのを見つけた。聖ピートは、何故
言われた通りに、門に入るためにハープを奏でなか
ったのかを訊いた。
オリィは大きなはっきりした声で済みませんでしたと
涙ながらに話した。そして『サム　クラムのディスコにハープを忘れてきました』と
声を出して歌った。
