政治とは？
小さな少年は、彼の父に尋ねます。『政治って何？』
父は答えます。『説明してあげよう。私は、家族の中
で稼ぎ手だから、資本主義（資本家のことか）と呼ぶことにしよう。
ママはお金の統治者だ。だから、彼女を政府と呼
ぼう。私達は、君の要求を処理するために、ここに
います。だから，君のことを国民と呼ぼう。
ナニィ、彼女のことを労働者階級と考えよう。君の
弟の赤ちゃんを未来と呼ぼう。さあ、今言ったことを
良く思って、自分で吟味してご覧』

そこで，小さな少年は，父の言ったことを思いながら
ベッドに向かいます。その夜遅く、彼は弟の赤ちゃん
が、泣くのが聞こえます。そこで，赤ちゃんの様子を
見るために起き上がります。彼は赤ちゃんがオムツ
をひどく汚しているのを見つけます。
そこで、小さな少年は両親の部屋に行きます、そして
母がぐっすり寝ているのを見つけます。母を起こし
たくなかったので、彼は、ナニィの部屋に向かいま
す。ドアに鍵がしてあるのがわかったので、鍵穴か
ら覗きます。父がナニィと一緒にいるのが目に入り
ます。彼は諦め、ベッドに返ります。
翌朝、小さな少年は父にいいます。
『お父さん、政治の概念が分かったように思うよ』
父は言います。『いい子だね，政治がどんなものか
を、自分の言葉で話してご覧』　少年は答えます。
『資本主義とは，労働者階級を搾取し、政府はぐ
っすり眠り，国民は無視される。そして，未来は
the Future is in deep doo-doo （意味が良くわか
らない）』
