In my last year in the army I had Chip. He was really popular and became our
section mascot (one of the other sections adopted a stray cat). Aussie officers
wear their rank on their shoulders so soldiers often call officer rank - bird
shit. Because we wore barracks uniform instead of fatigues we had all our badges
on which he loved to chew on, stopping him was often a pain. His favourite trick
was biting off the end of your pencil.
Eventually I had to give him away. A pet shop found a good family and he settled
in well.
