They are talking about deporting her, this week.

Because unlike you, she has no other status, and can only apply for
"permanent residency". Other articles explained she has tried to apply for
other
types of visas since her arrival in Japan, but she fills the conditions for
none : too old to be
orphan, age limit is 6 yr old maxi, too young to be yakuza-sponsored
untertainer, it's 20 yr
old mini, not enough degree to be student or specialist, not white enough to
be tourist...Well maybe she can marry with a 70 yr old soapland manager next
year. in that case, they'll give her a visa automatically.

It seems the Immig. folk really told her to go away this week as her
termporary visitor visa expires. And probably the moron Immigration
Inspector that said that really means it.

I have signed petitions for a similar affair in my neighbourhood maybe 2
years ago. They wanted to sent back to gods no where 2 primary school kids
whose Chinese mother was married to a Japanese national, saying too that
neither the adoption by the step-father nor the fact the mother was their
only relative in life on earth were reasons to grant them a visa. And well,
they ended up "making an exception" after some guys in government gave a few
phone calls. That happened several other times.
The case of that girl is going to end the same way, they said at the news
that they are going to "make an exception" too, because of the next
election.
They certainly don't need a call of the Tenno or Koizumi to give the child
an "exceptional visa", each Immigration Inspector has the power to grant
visas to people that don't fit in the official forms. So, except a
demonstrating they can be assholes, what the point of telling a little girl
she'll be deported? There is always a next election, isn't it ?

It's a bit disgusting to see how Japanese immigration and politic class deal
with
adopted children, they didn't even take the pain to define a resident status
for them (when you see the fuss they can make for one Jenkins). Not very
surprising, as that's just the way of thinking of the average Nihonjin. When
they complain about the lack of little kids in
the country, it's pure hypocrisy. Many Japanese could adopt foreign orphans
or abandoned kids instead of imported chihuahas.

If for some reason, you and your wife became the guardians of a 7 yr old
orphan of your family, the child would be in the same situation as that
little girl. Even if your wife adopts the child.
