I remember endless insults, how stupid, ignorant, imperialist, warmongering,
naive, etc. the old guy was. In Britain finding ways to insult Regan became
an obsession for many. Pretty much the same as now.
Maybe it was where I was living and the freaks I was hanging out with.
I'm quite happy to see a clumsy, uncomfortable guy mangle sentences and talk
normally.
There are enough smooth, professional, ex-lawyer politicians who always know
exactly what to say and never miss a beat. I like seeing someone who speaks
like an ordinary person and isn't particularly good with words and gets
nervous in front of a camera. I know it sends people into fits of outrage,
particularly in Europe, but I find it rather refreshing.
