My closest friend in the city here had a similar sounding accident about
three and half years ago. His fault and four other cars plus a house genkan
were damaged/destroyed. At the time he only had the shaken-included
insurance.
I would get ready for a lengthy period of deep bowing and profuse
apologizing. My friend's situation has yet to be 'finally' resolved three
years on - and HE has an uncle-in-law insurance broker acting on his behalf.
He tells me he keeps 1500000 yen ready and waiting in the post office just
in case there is a final resolution - but take heart - three years on and he
hasn't had to cough up more than the initial 1500000 yen in damages and
compensation.
