Why not have OfficeXP do this task? Go to tools "Automatic Correction Settings" (translated from turkish version, so it may differ slightly) and define your abbreviations. Each time you type abbreviation office will substitute the abbreviation with the long string you defined. Whenever I have a translation containing a long brand name, or a chemical, I define my abbreviation(s) (ie. msg for mono sodium gloutomate, or sulfam for SULFAM(tm) Sulfamic Acid Cleaner etc.). Since it is common to all Office applications you can use your abbreviations in Excel and Powerpoint as well. MultiTerm and Translators Workbench (both by Trados) offer something similar as well. But thats an other story.
