Mappuppu was duly purchased for about 7000yen. (300 yen actually after my
Yamada points were used)

It's pretty good. In fact I might bung you a copy Ryan so you can tell me
where to locate the feature to turn off Snap Objects to Ruler Guides. Then
an object can be precisely placed to within one pixel. Asking my missus
would alas require me to first explain the concept of 'object' and then I
fear it would soon turn nasty!

The savings made however were soon lost when I spotted the new Microsoft
'Leather' Wireless mouse. Ooooer.......it feels nice...... Needs a bit of
adjustment for fast-clicking and the scroll bar takes a little time to get
used to, but I've finally got my 'Back' command button again and so far -
touch leather - it's precise enough for drawing and DTP work.
