Oh, I understand why it makes sense in a multitask computing environment and
is worth doing and all.  My angle is more from the perspective of the video
owners and distributors, who are needlessly making a big fuss over this kind
of sharing if I'm correct that the number of people willing to put in such
an effort to see works via this method is quite small.

It's doesn't really matter what product or service it is.  I, like most
consumers, want immediate gratification and am willing to pay for it.  I
think I might pay $9.99 to download a DVD in 10 minutes.  If you don't
really like the movie, you can just delete it off your hard drive.  If it
was really good, you could copy it to your own DVD.  This would create
collector's syndrome in many consumers and a bonanza for content
distributors.
