Tis the season to be jolly....well rogered
HoHoHo...
What a wonderful Christmas time I'm having. First batch of parties were
yesterday of course - no way I could possibly work on the Emperor's birthday
(sign of respect and all that crap...some adult students actually fell for
my mock sincerity - kids as usual still have actually no idea what the guy's
name is....yet they all know Elizabeth, Charles and the late Diana - go
figure).
In previous years I did the Christmas card making thing in the 2nd week
December - this year it was just too much mess, bother and money to make the
effort. So the kids got the old classic Rankin/Bass "Rudolph the Red-Nosed
Reindeer" with Burl Ives narrating, Hermey the elf who wants to be a dentist
and that perfectly normal doll on the island of misfit toys - I reckon she
had a crack habit. I'm sure many here - nonUKlanders - we kinda' brought up
on the Rankin/Bass shows at this time of the year. Well you can get several
of them on DVD in Japan now - they are soooo cheesy - especially the Santa
Claus is Coming To Town. I made some 11 year-olds sit through it on
Monday - I think I may have to refund their monthly fee for the
psychological damage I must have caused.
But 'Rudolph' is great! Yukon Cornelius and Hermey are such a hoot -
especially in Japanese!
And tonight I had my class of high school girls and single women. Tried to
sell them all on the idea of a Christmas Eve lesson next week. All said yes
in class. Then I had the marvelous spectacle of two of the single women and
one high school girl all trying to wait for me after class - collectively
waiting individually if you get my drift - so they could make seperate
apologies in advance for their absence next week...HO HO HO!
Though I think I might have convinced the high school girl to come with the
promise of chocolate cake - that well known substitute for 'a spot of the
other'...ooer missus. When pushed - well just asked actually - it was a
previous date with her part-time job at Tsubohachi and not a right royal
shag at the Hotel Big Joy that was her excuse....oh well...a man can dream,
speculate, assume, and be arrested for thinking such things...
BTW can someone please explain the whole Christmas Eve and horizontal
jogging connection thingy to me? I mean it's a pretty safe bet that Mary
told Joe that the only action he'd see that night would be with a sheep...
